Near a forest of Eucalyptus trees in Rwanda’s Northern Musanze district, Jack Hanna’s cottage is located in the grounds of the Gorilla’s Nest Lodge, on the foothills of the Virunga Volcano Range. Panoramic views of the Rwandan hills and slopes of the Volcanoes National Park greet you from your window and porch.
‘Jungle Jack’ Hanna is a popular American wildlife TV presenter, who fell in love with Rwanda and built a private house on the grounds of the Gorilla’s Nest Lodge. Only hired out on an exclusive basis, the cottage comprises of 2 bedrooms, en-suite bathrooms, a living area and a small but fully functioning kitchen.
One of the bedrooms is furnished as a double, the other as twin, and the en-suite bathrooms ensure privacy making the cottage ideal for a family, or group of friends. Each bathroom includes a flushing toilet, sink, hot shower and a bath!
The lounge room is cozy and comfortably furnished, also featuring an open fire place.
The kitchen is small but fully functioning, and is where a private chef will prepare all of your meals, to be served in the cottage’s dining room. There is also a full staff, exclusively delegated to the cottage during your stay, ensuring that you are always happy and comfortable.
Delicious, home-cooked meals are exclusively prepared in the cottage by a private chef. Meals combine both traditional African and International dishes. Please ensure any dietary requirements are provided well in advance.
Activities to be undertaken whilst staying at the cottage include Mountain Gorilla trekking and Golden Monkey trekking. Dian Fossey’s Karisoke Research Camp, and grave, is also nearby, located within the Volcanoes National Park.
Children are welcome at the Lodge. However a 15yrs and over age restriction applies for Mountain Gorilla trekking, and a 12 yrs (accompanied by an adult) age restriction applies for Golden Monkey trekking.
